Registration

The 2024-25 strings program is underway! Please register online using this link. For questions about the program, please contact our Parent Coordinator, André Polaniecki, at
duplechain@alumni.nd.edu. Mrs. Susan Nagel will be returning for her 6th year of teaching at Saint Joseph Grade school.

Schedule

Classes will occur on Wednesdays after school. Actual class time will be dependent upon the level of your students (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) shortly after registration closes. Schedule of key dates will be shared at the first class held on August 28.

Class Descriptions & Times:

Actual times will be confirmed shortly after registration closes. Students will be broken into Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Classes will be held in the Basil Moreau Room (BMR) in the basement of the church. Students will be met at school by the strings instructor and escorted to class after school. Details will be shared with students on program logistics prior to the start of the program.

Fees

Registration Fee

$30 Strings Program Registration Fee – billed through FACTS by the school. The one-time registration fee covers all books, music, binders, and concert events.

Lesson Fees

Nine months total for year of $450 (not considered a “per lesson” fee).

Payment Options

St. Joe Strings is a yearlong program running from September – May. At the time of registration, families will designate how they wish to pay for courses:

  • Monthly: Monthly payments of $50 will be billed via FACTS during the nine month school year. Your FACTS statement will reflect charges starting in October.
  • Semester: 5% discount for advance payment for each semester ($225 for 1st payment – billed via FACTS in October; $225 for 2nd payment – billed via FACTS in January).
  • Year: 10% discount for advance payment of two semesters ($405 for 9 months – billed via FACTS in October).

There will be no adjustments or refunds for absences. If your child misses class, make up time can be provided. The program fees cover preparation and instruction time; additional lessons for students who need extra help; programs, as well as preparation time and extra rehearsals for programs. You may speak with instructors directly if you wish for your child to participate in private one-on-one lessons outside of strings classes.

Instruments

You may rent your child’s instrument from Quinlan & Fabish (130 Edison Rd, Mishawaka, (574-293-6332). Your child needs to be present for rental in order to be fitted correctly for his/her instrument.

The Saint Joseph Strings Program also has a limited number of instruments available to rent. The rental fee is $10/month and will be billed via FACTS. Please contact parent coordinator André Polaniecki (duplechain@alumni.nd.edu) for additional information.

Biography, Susan Nagle

Ms. Susan Nagel is looking forward to returning for her 6th year teaching at the SJGS Strings Program. She holds a bachelor of music degree in violin performance from Indiana University South Bend. She is a former member of the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra, and the South Bend Symphony Quartet. Along with her love of playing violin comes a true interest in teaching the instrument. While in Chicago, she taught for Betty Haag, a very well-respected pedagogue. She teaches in her Mishawaka home, freelances in the area, and plays in her church band. Additionally, she is involved in Bible Study Fellowship. She and her husband Dale have a grown daughter and son.
