Educating Hearts
“The mind will not be cultivated at the expense of the heart. While we prepare useful citizens for society, we shall likewise do our utmost to prepare citizens for heaven.” -Blessed Basil Moreau, Founder of the Congregation of Holy Cross
The essence of our mission at Saint Joseph Grade School is the cultivation of the heart and the soul, on which good values depend, in order to prepare our students with the knowledge that can guide them to the totality and completeness of the Christian life. At SJGS, this instruction is provided not only through Catholic religion curriculum, but also by developing greater understanding of the model of Christ throughout each school day. Formation of the heart is deepened with numerous opportunities for prayer and sacramental celebration, as well as through the sharing of God’s love with others.
It was Holy Cross founder Blessed Basil Moreau’s hope for his students, and our hope for ours, that they persevere in faith once they graduate and enter upon their long journeys back to the Father. It is our hope that our students continue to practice making God known, loved, and served.
